Reproduction is a fundamental aspect of life for every individual. However, nature does not always cooperate. The increasing prevalence of infertility among couples can lead to stress and feelings of hopelessness. Access to donor eggs (oocytes) for in vitro fertilization (IVF) is often a crucial requirement and can significantly enhance the chances of success in assisted reproductive technologies (ART).

Assisted reproductive technologies, particularly IVF, should be considered when pregnancy has not been achieved after at least one year of trying.

IVF involves fertilizing an egg outside the female body, which is then implanted into the uterus once it develops into an embryo on the 3rd to 6th day.

In challenging situations where a woman’s own eggs are non-viable or unavailable, the assistance of a healthy and high-quality egg donor becomes essential for achieving pregnancy.

For the IVF procedure, a carefully selected egg donor undergoes hormonal treatments to stimulate the ovaries, increasing the number of mature oocytes available. Typically, in a natural cycle, only one egg matures, but with hormonal stimulation, it is possible to retrieve 10-15 or more mature eggs.

Once fertilization occurs, the embryo is implanted into the uterus of a surrogate mother, who is able to carry the pregnancy. Legally, the surrogate mother cannot also be an egg donor for the child, which helps to prevent future legal complications. Therefore, in any surrogacy and egg donation program, the egg donor and surrogate must be two distinct individuals.
